If Mary is sinless… why does she need a Saviour???

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour!” Lk 1:47

“Therefore, God elevated Him (Jesus) to the place of highest honour and gave Him the Name above other names, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth…” Philippians 2:9-10

There is a reason why the Holy Scriptures shine a light on Mary, the mother of Jesus, for a little while (for the birth of the Saviour) and then she is literally side lined for the rest of the New Testament. God knew wicked men would try to elevate Mary above the place due her. Above the rightful place of the Lord Jesus.

Let’s be absolutely clear: the Mary, mother to Jesus, of the New Testament, is NOT the same Mary, mother to Jesus, of Roman Catholicism. The Catholic “Mary” – to put it bluntly – is a pagan substitute! The Goddess Isis, “Mother of the Universe” was transformed into the “Mother of God” of the Roman Catholic – Catholic also meaning Universal – Church. Horus, the little child sitting in Isis’s lap becomes Jesus, sitting in His mother Mary’s lap!

But, the “Mother of the Universe” and the “Mother of God” are just a hop, skip and a jump from “The Mother Church”, and on to “Mother of Harlots!”, condemned in Revelation 17:5 (As I have written in the past, the Holy Scriptures reveal types, and shadows, and foreshadows.)

What is important to understand is how the Roman Empire, under Constantine, exchanged pagan deities, for religious ones.

But a shop dummy is still a shop dummy, no matter what fancy clothes you dress it in!

That,in a sense, is what happened: pagan Rome became religious Rome with just a few tweaks here and there! Once we understand the roots we can understand why Roman Catholicism is in direct disobedience to the teachings of the Lord Jesus. (Idolatry, for starters!)

In the letter to the Hebrews, the author writes “You have put all things in subjection under His feet.” Hebrews 2:8 And again in Hebrews 2:10 “But we see Jesus, who was (for a little while) made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour…” (in brackets my paraphrase)

In the first verse it is made clear the order: Everything and everyone is in subjection, that is, under the feet of the Lord Jesus. Including Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the second verse, the “Jesus” of the Roman Apostate Church is not only made lower than the angels, He is “made lower” than Mary!

Yes. Mary was chosen by God. Yes, Mary was “blessed among women“. Yes, Mary was a handmaiden of the Lord. But, immaculate? Never! Sinless? Never! A Saint we should pray to? Not on your nelly! Elevated above the Lord Jesus? Blasphemy!

Read again, Mary’s exaltation, when, filled with the Holy Spirit, she exclaims how “favoured” she feels, how “humbled” that God should have looked upon her, with such kindness.

Privileged? Yes.

Something “special”, to be adored, to be on equal footing or elevated above the Lord Jesus?

NEVER.

in the Beloved.

post notes: Remember, the Greek term Antichristos has two separate meanings. Anti – in opposition to, or against. As well as in place of or a substitute. Christ means the Anointed One, or The Messiah.

Once we understand the “in place of” is the Roman Apostate Church- the Vicar of Christ (or one who “acts” vicariously “in the place of” Christ) makes sense! “Substitution” plays out a lot within Roman Catholicism, starting with the  “substitution” of Isis to Mary.

Yet, the only real “substitute” given to us is The Person of the Holy Spirit.

Amen?
